This is a combined recipe from the blog Maison Travers and from my mom’s recipe.  I added to the recipe from Nadia some staples which my mom’s recipe recommended such as  bacon, mushrooms and the delicious rice from Bulk Nation.  Simple and delicious.  My mom’s recipe called for dry red wine but I went with the dry white wine. My husband insisted I leave out the shrimp but I think the shrimp would have been delicious! My recipe called for pearl onions but I followed Nadia’s recipe with 1 medium onion, thinly spiced.  I also added a variety of spices and flavors from Bulk Nation.
