Michael and I have been spending our summers working in the Cupcake Shop “Cupcake Cache.” This is our first summer off in 4 years. I may be teaching an online course but it is nice to know that we have time to relax. I made a bullet list.

  • leisurely work in garden planting herbs
  • take pug for a long walk in new area of the neighborhood
  • throw down some dimes, nickels, and pennies at the slot machine at Hardrock  Cafe and finish using the gift card we won
  • fix box outside with Michael’s help
  • leisurely follow the Grammar Diva for help on how to creatively explain dangling modifiers
  • find a new crime writer to follow
  • visit the beach
  • submit some free lance writing articles
  • sleep in until 9:30
  • have a garage sale
  • call up some old friends from the Catskills to catch up
  • visit with some friends in person
  • make some dinners from old recipes from mom or from one of the cookbooks
  • have time to do some leisurely grocery shopping without rushing
  • make some powerpoint presentations for next semester
  • go window shopping at the new outdoor outlet
  • go away with Michael for a short summer vacation
  • visit the location of Cupcake Cache to see how the old plaza is doing and smile
  • put together a few new outfits
  • go thrift shopping for hidden finds
  • peruse netflicks for some unexpected treasures
  • do some exercise
  • enjoy doing nothing
  • and keep adding to the list.
  • oh, wait, catch up with the grandchildren and relatives…..
  • maybe, buy a gourmet cupcake from a small mom and pop and smile happily…..
