  1. Baking and business is about timing.
  2. Sometimes you help out another person or business, but not everything is returned.
  3. Sometimes it is best to pay respect to your intuition.
  4. Let the customers decide what they want.
  5. Sometimes the best salesmen with women is a man and vice aversa.
  6. You can never tell what is going to happen so go with the flow.
  7. Have a back-up plan.
  8. Make sure there is plenty of parking and if allowed, designated.
  9. Don’t make change often or you run out often.
  10. Don’t expect anybody to respect small business problems.
  11. Keep a book or movie on hand for slow times.
  12. Listen to people’s body language for the truth.
  13. Start early baking and make more frosting than you need.
  14. Learn to listen to what is going on the news with the health care bill, expenses, etc.
  15. Always take a chance.
  16. Because if you don’t, someone else will and you will never know.
  17. If you work with a loved one, let them play to their strengths and be grateful.
  18. Smile often.
  19. Get rest when you can.
  20. Learn not to take to heart some things people may say. You cannot be open 24/7.
